Justin Kern:
Owner, Director

Justin F Kern (JFK) is a former cabinetmaker with a background in Industrial Design.

While manufacturing custom joinery by day, Justin would spend his spare time building and installing PCs and speaker boxes for his friends and family. It was only when his recreational skills were spotted by Sony that his venture in to the world of technology began. Despite having no previous vocational experience in Information Technology, he was hired as Sony’s IT Manager on the recommendation of a friend and proceeded to teach himself networking.

Installing AV systems was second nature to Justin and eventually, as demand grew for more sophisticated audio and visual distribution around the home, Justin decided to branch off from Sony and set up his own installation company. And so JFK was born…

His main focus has always been on customer service; always being prompt, reliable and above all, giving customers honesty when it comes to technology.

Justin’s hobbies are photography & volleyball; he has been taking photos since he was 7 years old and has more recently established a small business on the side. He still plays  volleyball every Monday night and can regularly be found on the beach at Manly & Bondi.

Mark Nettleton:
General Manager

Mark joined the JFK team in 2013 following a move to Sydney, having previously worked for companies in Melbourne, London and Vancouver, Canada.

Graduating from The University of East Anglia in England with a Masters in Mathematics, Mark began his work life in finance as a Consultant for AEGON Scottish Equitable.

In 2007, he left the UK to follow his dreams of living overseas and finding work in an industry more aligned with his interest in technology. It was in Vancouver that Mark discovered the wonders of home automation and immediately began work as Assistant to the GM at one of Canada’s most reputed systems integration firms. Since then Mark has travelled the world, continuing to work with home automation businesses and gaining a global perspective of the industry.

At JFK, Mark manages the day-to-day operations of the business, but also likes to stay hands on with design and project management, as well as marketing and strategic planning. He keeps up with the best technologies available worldwide and makes sure they’re all available for JFK’s clients.

Mark is an avid movie-watcher, music lover and lives in Glebe with his wife Rebecca and their children Holly and Henry.

Matt Furnell:
Lead Technician & Install Manager

Matt Furnell is an Audio Engineer and electronics enthusiast who loves a challenge to break boundaries in the home management world.

Starting out as an Auto Electrician fresh out of school in ’97, he went on to study for his Audio Engineering Certificate while working in the music industry. During this time, he
released multiple award-­winning albums with a variety of different bands. Keeping his strong audio heritage alive, he started working with JFK Automation in 2006 and has since completed his certificate as an Electronics Technician Cert IV and is now JFK’s lead technician, programmer, designer and Installation Manager.

Ben Rubie:
Project Coordinator and Estimator

After moving away from his days as a musician, Ben’s foray into the world of technology commenced at Dick Smith where he was surrounded in all good things that is consumer electronics. Moving to the commercial side of Information Technology, Ben worked within the project management team at Hewlett Packard before then moving to Fuji Xerox Australia. Dabbling in audio and helping family members with IT problems over the weekends wasn’t enough however, with Ben deciding to make the switch to the Home Automation industry. Now involved with loud, high-tech and well-designed catalogues of products, he’s right at home.
